The City of Stockholm joins Northern Europe’s leading Internet conference SIME
Posted by mahesh in SIME News | Sep 9, 2009 @ 17:15And we are proud to report that the City of Stockholm / Stockholm Business Region has joined forces with us to shine more spotlight onto the Scandinavian region to lead the ICT movement and to promote the ever evolving Scandinavian digital landscape. We could not be more thrilled as this means we are essentially carrying the official Scandinavian ICT flag (if there is one such) in the global scene, taking with us companies that are the pride of Scandinavia and bringing into Scandinavia, some of the thought leaders and coolest companies from all over the globe. This has always what SIME has taken pride about – the quality, the future of content and knowledge is quality (as Michael Oreskes said at SIME 2007) and we are happy to find more such interesting ways to promote good quality content, ideas and people.

The City of Stockholm has decided to support and work together with SIME as the event contributes to the positioning of Stockholm towards the international ICT community, and therefore strengthens the city as one of the world’s leading ICT region.
“SIME correlates well to our ambition in developing Stockholm’s excellent reputation as a leading knowledge region. SIME is a well established meeting place for entrepreneurs and innovators within new media and an initiative which we will support” said Mr Sten Nordin, Mayor of Stockholm.
The partnering consists of financial support and the initiating of a closer collaboration between SIME and Stockholm Business Region, the city’s investment promotion company.
“The conference is significant, not at least for the ICT cluster in the region, so a cooperation with the City of Stockholm is important. The city shares our view about developing the innovation- and business climate” said Mr Ola Ahlvarsson, Chairman of SIME and Internet entrepreneur.
Since the start in 1996, Scandinavia Interactive Media Event SIME, has grown to become Northern Europe’s leading conference covering topics such as the Internet, marketing and innovation. Once a year, entrepreneurs, journalists, marketers and decision-makers from all over the world gather in Stockholm to discuss trends and digital opportunities. In recent years, SIME conferences have also been arranged in other parts of the world, for instance Copenhagen, Helsinki and Barcelona.
