Survival strategies and Puckipedia
Posted by mediapilot in Mediapilot | Nov 16, 2011 @ 8:55 No Comments »Survivor
Tomas Lund from Scandinavian digital management consultants Connecta held a presentation that gave many participants food for thought. Some of the key takeaways included: “companies need to change centrally. Otherwise one dept will scream for change while the others won’t listen”, “start to adjust to the new world, stop doing as you have always done”, “Companies should organize for change, scout knowledge, involve the users in the R&D process”.
Puckipedia
12-year old Puck – founder of Puckipedia – was one of the many draws at SIME 2011: “12 year old wiz kid on stage: I can see people in their 30s looking uncomfortable – including myself!” and
“Now we finally have Puck – 12 year old programmer who is just totally amazing! This is what I love about #SIME11”, as well as: “We’d love to hire Puck (@puckipedia) at @MobisleApps, but I suspect he’s too expensive. #sime11”. The comments on what Puck actually said were fewer (noting the fact that the ux for Puck’s app is based on games) than the fact that he is 12 years old (I feel like a dinosaur! #SIME11 Who let the kid in!?).

SIME DAY TWO
Posted by mediapilot in Mediapilot | Nov 16, 2011 @ 8:14 No Comments »As is to be expected from the very active and committed crowd attending SIME11, there have been blogs and tweets aplenty about all the presentations and activities. In addition to the ten theme-bloggers (Ulrika Schreil, Simon Sundén, Jenny Canborn, Jesper Bylund, Annika Lidne, Christoffer Du Rietz, Helen Alfvegren, Peter Sandberg, Emilia Blom and Evelina Ander), participants have sat down to write all about what they have heard, talked about and read about! Rikard Steiber’s (Google’s Global Marketing Director) talk was especially noted and his message that the time for mobile is now was picked up by many bloggers. Other events that were noted was the fireside chat with Niklas Zennström and general expectations ahead of SIME. Reflecting the great interest in tweeting-terms, Creuna’s presentation by Martin Deinoff and Fredrik Marcus was recounted and discussed by bloggers.
When reading blogs about SIME, there was one statement that seems to be recurring is “much more than just a conference”. The theme of “passion” was also a popular topic: “passion and commitment are truly the key words” and “there was a spirit of sharing and caring”.

Posted by mediapilot in Mediapilot | Nov 15, 2011 @ 13:39 No Comments »The presence of / lack of presence of women was another topic that appeared on Twitter: “Great to see many talented women on stage!”: “Finally: more women at SIME” but also: “So far on the #sime11 stage 14 men, 2 women. Where are all the female entrepreneurs, inventors, experts, piano players?!”

Summary
The presentation by Creuna’s Martin Deinoff and Fredrik Marcus was eagerly awaited and positively received: “If content is king, context is president” was retweeted by just about everyone. More one-liners that attracted attention was: “If you look good and behave like an ass, you’re still an ass” and “it’s much better to be good than to say you’re good”. Martin Gustafsson (Reklamaren) noted that watching Creuna’s presentation was a bit like watching a well-directed play: ”easily the presentation of the day”. Concluding the presentation was the statement that “Social is not a media, it’s a mindset” and “Everything that can be digital – will be”. The concluding summary was also praised and comments afterwards were overwhelmingly positive.

NEWS, ENTERTAINMENT OR BULLSHIT – FIRESIDE CHAT
Posted by mediapilot in Mediapilot | Nov 15, 2011 @ 13:05 No Comments »Agenda
Fireside chat with Aftonbladet’s editor in chief Jan Helin. The line between news and entertainment is blurring and journalistic principles are being killed by leaking wikis and aggressive bloggers. We dive into the future of journalism and the newsroom of Scandinavia’s largest media.
Summary
The second “fireside chat” of the day was with Swedish newspaper Aftonbladet’s editor in chief Jan Helin. In addition to comments on his presentation (reading from an A4-paper was not popular), but also on the contents: “interesting about ethics issues” and “Helin is trying to sway us to support free speech and freedom of the press. And while I agree, he doesn’t impress it’s importance on me” and @janhelin is bringin up a really interested topic on #SIME11: Privacy, freedom of the press and what is entertainment or news”. The subject attracted an enormous amount of attention, and after initial negative comments, the discussion became more balanced. The presentation focused less on digital media and more on the issue of press ethics and the difference between entertainment and news. Jesper Bylund, one of the more active twitterers noted that it was “interesting to hear Helin talking about what is privacy”. Bringing the discussion back to digital media, one participant commented: “Not mentioning wikileaks? Isn’t it true simply that, in the digital age, there is nowhere to hide a secret? #sime11 #aftonbladet”.

This unusual presentation was very much appreciated by tweeters: “So much fun to see another side of speakers” and “jose plays the piano on stage, cool! will @kimcramer dance the salsa tomorrow?”
More non-profit talk with questions such as ”which company is the non-profit superstar at SIME11?” and calls to check out SIME11 non-profit challenges.

COMIC SANS AND NON-PROFIT ORGANISATIONS
Posted by mediapilot in Mediapilot | Nov 15, 2011 @ 12:33 No Comments »back after the lunch break, the discussion on Twitter takes up where it left off!
Qlicktech’s presentation got a mixed reception, with numerous tweets on the usage of Comic Sans in the presentation (sooo 90’s) but also retweets of the “lessons”: “Use the competition’s marketing dollars against them. Steal the show!” and “Marketingis a judo game”. it was however much discussed! The lesson that was retweeted the most was “Own your failure! Don’t blame it on someone else, it is valuable!”
The Non-Profit event has also attracted attention, with a number of NPO’s stating that “We are here! Who else is here?”
