Caterina Fake is an American businesswoman and one of the most successful global internet entrepreneurs founding companies like Flickr, Hunch, and now, Findery. She is the Chairman of the Board of Etsy, a board member of CreativeLive, an angel investor, and advisor to many startups and companies.
Fake is now pioneering Findery, a geo-location annotation application, which tells stories about the place you are in the form of notes left by people around the world. Notes can be public or private, tell personal histories or reveal historical or world-changing events that happened in the place you are standing.
Fake co-founded Flickr, the popular photo-sharing service. Flickr was acquired by Yahoo! in 2005. Flickr ushered in the so-called Web 2.0 integrating features such as social networking, community open APIs, tagging, and algorithms that surfaced the most interesting content. Hunch was a collective intelligence and big data engine that built the ‘taste graph’ of the internet. It was acquired by eBay in 2011.
