CEO & Co-Founder of busuu.com

Bernhard Niesner is the CEO and co-founder of busuu.com which he started after graduating from IE Business School in 2008. He is in charge for the overall development of the strongly growing start-up. busuu.com is the most active language learning community around the world. The platform provides interactive language courses in currently 9 different languages combined with direct interaction with native speakers from the community. The Madrid-based start-up grew from 0 to 3 mio users around the world within only 3 years – at the moment, every day more than 10,000 new users sign up.

 

Before joining busuu.com, Bernhard worked at Roland Berger Strategy Consultants in the area of consumer goods and retail in consulting projects around Europe. He was born in Vienna where he graduated in Business Administration with summa cum laude. He also holds an International MBA of IE Business School where he is currently Associate Professor in the area of web 2.0 marketing. Bernhard was named Entrepreneur of the Year of the University of Vienna in 2009. In his spare time he likes to go skiing in Austria and kitesurfing in the south of Spain.
