Digital Ethnographer
Stefana Broadbent is a digital ethnographer. For the last 20 years she has been investigating the evolution of people’s daily use of technology. Her observations have spanned from living rooms to workplaces, attempting to capture how communication and society are changing. Her studies have always been embedded in design and have supported the development of new digital tools and services. Stefana is currently an Honorary Lecturer at the Department of Anthropology at University College London.
Between 2004 and 2008 she ran the Observatory of Digital Life for the national Swiss Telecom company Swisscom. Previously she founded CB&J, a company specialized user research that was acquired by IconMedialab/LBi in 1999, where she was appointed Chief Officer for Human Interaction. Stefana holds a Ph.D. in Cognitive science from the University of Edinburgh, and a degree in Psychology from the Université de Genève. She has lectured in Anthropology and Ergonomics in Paris, Milan and Zurich and has published on issues related to digital media.
