1. THE SIME NON-PROFIT 2010 AWARD HOSTED BY MICROSOFT
10 000 Euro worth of advertising in all Microsoft’s media channels to the NGO that came up with the most inspiring Challenge.
Challenge: Presently our two main methods to recruit new monthly donors are DM campaigns and F2F. We have reached both methods’ limits to a reasonable cost- and effectivity level. This limits our possibility to grow at the same time as the needs in the field are enormous. Doctors Without Borders as a movement has a need to raise its revenues short and long term, while keeping costs in check. We are therefore looking for new generic methods / channels to recruit monthly donors, which we can use repeatedly and which create volume. Can you help us?
The Jury’s Motivation:
A solid list of monthly donors is crucial for any organization raising money from the private sector. However, donors are difficult to acquire and perhaps even more difficult to keep engaged for a longer period of time. Today, two of the most used methods of engaging donors is face-to-face marketing and direct mail. Following up on previous successes, MSF are now challenged with repeating these in new channels and environments in an innovative and cost efficient way. Based on what we know about the modern media landscape and the growing importance of digital communications channels we are certain that expanding into digital is the way to move forward. We believe that digital marketing can deliver on the challenge of finding cost efficient and effective ways of both finding new and engaging existing donors to support MSFs charitable goals.
2. THE SIME NON-PROFIT 2010 GRANT HOSTED BY FACEBOOK
4 000 Euro worth of advertising on Facebook to the NGO that came up with the most inspiring Challenge.
Challenge: 2010 marks the thirty-year commemoration of John Lennon’s tragic death. To honour his legacy and to further strengthen the reach of our Non-Violence Symbol – as well as the implementation of our education programs – we will initiate the largest call for peace and non-violence ever manifested.
“Imagine One Billion Faces for Peace”, www.iobffp.org, aims at inspiring people across the globe to sign up for a global call for peace and non-violence. Every sign up will receive an inspiring introduction to our evidence proven education programs. Our objective with the introduction is to reach out with the complete education package to 100 million students, teachers and coaches within 3 years. The recruitment of this, the world largest “Non Violence Army”, will mainly be done through social media networks, Non-Violence Ambassadors, presence in schools and sports and through regional Non-Violence organizations. Our biggest challenge is: to create relevant REACH, through all virtual as well as traditional channels. We need help to get this message out Globally – do you want to join and support us?
The Jury’s Motivation:
This is a challenge that is faced by every organization like Non Violence. The task that they are trying to do is massive. You think going into something like this that there is no reason why millions from around the world wouldn’t sign on to support such a task to save millions from violent deaths, but breaking through the noise of all of the other campaigns, and great initiatives can be really difficult. However, we think that with the right resources and expertise, you can focus your outreach to the most effective channels so your message can be heard by people around the world. And we think that once people can hear the call to action for ““Imagine One Billion Faces for Peace”, Non Violence will be able to rally a massive amount of support and be able to report back at next years SIME Non-Profit of all they accomplished.
