-We’re selling a service that no one wants, because who wants to be dependent on personal assistance? Many wonder how my disability limits me, but it's our brains and our thoughts that limit us, not our legs, say the multi-award winning entrepreneur Veronica Hedenmark.
Veronica Hedenmark started her first business as an underdog when society had already disregarded her at 19-years-old, because she was born with an extensive disability, and she was offered early retirement by the government.
Instead, she took over her own personal assistance, and today, more than 20 years later, she owns one of Sweden’s largest personal assistance companies, VH assistans, with 1,000 employees across Sweden. Over the years, she has started several other companies within VH assistans Gruppen, including Sweden’s only law firm specialized in the legislation regarding disabilities.
–How to be successful? Hard work, a lot of passion, love and willpower are forces that move me forward, Veronica says, even though she in her own words “needs help with everything but talking,” works much more than full time, and is a mother.
